Regenerative Treatment with Wharton’s Jelly
Quick Definition of Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine is utilizing the bodies natural capacity to heal itself, in a super concentrated form and applying that where we hurt. Whether that pain is from degenerative arthritis, inflammation or injury. At Regain we use Wharton’s Jelly (WJ) from the umbilical cord. WJ is a flowable tissue transplant that is packed with all the stuff that heals us. WJ has the highest concentration of Stem Cells, the bodies powerful regenerating force. Collagen the bodies most abundant protein made up of amino acids and peptides, it literally glues our bones, cartilage and blood vessels together and enables our tissue to grow, mature and move. Hyaluronic Acid which helps lubricate, grow cartilage and reduce inflammation. Proteoglycans which are core proteins that help with tissue connectivity and healing. WJ has vast amounts of anti-inflammatory molecules that help to alleviate pain.
Regenerative Therapy is a NON-SURGICAL option to help aid in healing and regenerating joint and tissue damage that present with debilitating pain. Our Medical Team, led by Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Kevin Witte, is trained in the diagnostic process. After a thorough soft tissue evaluation we will know what the next best step in the process will be. You may be in need of a surgical repair in which case a regenerative treatment will not be effective. You may greatly benefit from our regenerative treatment and avoid a surgical repair.
Wharton’s Jelly is a flowable tissue transplant that is easily injected into the places that we hurt. It is a same-day procedure, it is minimally invasive, and is an effective option for patients to avoid a surgical repair and get out of pain.
Will Wharton’s Jelly Stem Cell Treatment Be Effective for Me?
Our Medical Staff will begin your appointment with a full medical history, and a Sonogram soft tissue scan to determine what the next best step is for each patient.
Based upon the results from our soft tissue analysis some of our patients will need a surgical repair. In that case utilizing WJ’s flowable tissue transplant post surgery is the best idea for restoring function post operatively. Injecting where the tissue damage requires a surgical repair will not be an effective next step.
In many cases we can avoid the surgical repair and utilize Wharton’s Jelly to speed healing and regenerate the damaged joint.
We are proud of the care we take in the diagnostic phase with our patients. It helps to have an Orthopedic Surgeon of Dr Witte’s stature, training and experience. This ensures that we are doing the right treatment at the right time.
We also enjoy a partnership with physical therapists that are trained in the proper therapeutic approach when utilizing biologics (WJ) for the best recovery. We use Physical Therapists that are trained to work in the context of regenerative treatments
